Approach

Paxton’s approach is one of grace and compassion. His methods involve working together with individuals to help them explore personal goals and desires. Through one-on-one sessions and also group processing, clients learn new skills to overcome unwanted behaviors and addictive patterns. Paxton is passionate about inspiring change, restoring God’s real identity for individuals, and seeing them become a true overcomer.

Experience

Overcomer Consulting was founded by Paxton Merrill. Paxton has experience in lay counseling, life coaching, 12 step process, betrayal trauma and group therapy. He has a compassion and understanding towards those who need help, developed through his own personal journey to recovery.

He holds a B.A. in Psychology and obtained a highly regarded certification as a Pastoral Sex Addiction Professional (PSAP) through the International Institute for Trauma and Addiction Professions (IITAP). He is a Nationally Certified Life Coach (NCLC) and a Nationally Certified Sex Addiction Coach (NCSAC) through The Addictions Academy (TAA). He also holds a Board Certification as a Mental Health Coach through the American Association of Christian Counselors (AACC). He resides in Anchorage, Alaska with his family and is happy to speak with you as you begin your journey towards freedom from pornography and sex addiction, lust, fantasy, and any other unwanted addictive behaviors.
